The Canadian Biosafety App allows users to engage with the Canadian Biosafety Standards (CBS) by finding the requirements that are specific to your facility. The app has been updated to include the requirements for the third edition of the CBS. It is available as a free download in English for both Android and Apple devices and it can also be accessed online.

The CBS is used to certify the compliance of regulated facilities with a license for controlled activities with human pathogens and toxins or importing or transferring terrestrial animal pathogens. This app includes the full text of the CBS and allows users to save requirements, progress, and lists for different locations in a laboratory based on containment level, work area, and pathogen type. Locations may include work areas, large scale production areas, or small or large animal containment zones. The app also guides users to add comments where requirements are displayed and check boxes for verified requirements.

This resource is part of the Canadian Biosafety Standards and Guidelines set of resources which is maintained as part of a collaboration between Health Canada, Public Health Agency of Canada, and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
