SUMMARY

This guidance material provides an overview of interim measures related to SARS-CoV-2 laboratory biosafety. This includes specific laboratory working condition measures related to: risk assessment; routine laboratory procedures (including propagative diagnostics and PCR analysis); point of care (POC) and near-POC assays; use of appropriate disinfectants; viral isolation and propagation; waste management; risks associated with virus isolation studies; work with animals infected with SARS-CoV-2; and referral of specimens to laboratories with appropriate risk control measures in place (including measures to ensure safe packaging and shipment).
