The Compassionate Transportation Manual (CTM) is a guide designed to provide protocols and best practices for the safe and respectful transportation of human remains. The CTM explains the requirements for International Air Transport Association (IATA) member airlines and international standards. Notably, the CTM covers import and export regulations and how to handle potentially infectious remains with guidelines on personal protective equipment (PPE) and sanitization procedures. The new 4th edition includes a checklist and details on how to develop a training and assessment program. Overall, the CTM aims to protect public health while honoring the dignity of the deceased.
